New Salem Baptist Church, Georgia

Warren County, Georgia

The congregation was founded in 1868. At the moment, I do not have much information. I do have a reference that Reverend Charles Hamilton Holloway served as the pastor prior to 1920.

Since this structure is common among Black rural churches, I suspect the original wood exterior was covered by brick.

Sandy Grove AME Church and School, Georgia

This church was formed after the Civil War. The first church building was built in the early 1900s. The one-room school was likely built right after the main church building was built. It’s a rare pre-Rosenwald school that is still standing.
