The Krispy Kreme of Spartanburg, South Carolina

If you grew up in Spartanburg, this is the Krispy Kreme where you would pick up their delicious doughnuts. Located on Church Street, the building was opened in 1969 by Reverend Wilford W. Reese. When he passed away in 1979, his son, Glenn Reese, took over the franchise. Glenn Reese was also a teacher, basketball official, and a South Carolina senator. This location closed in 2005, and a new location was built across the street.

  1. I do remember purchasing from this store. I moved to Spartanburg SC in 2000. It was one of my first things that brought me a little comfort from my big move from Brooklyn NY. My bestie and I would get a dozen of fresh baked donuts and race to see who could eat the most with a pint of milk each. LOL. I would love to turn that space into a family restaurant and continue to serve love to the people through good food. It would be like a NY diner. I spoke to Glenn about this property and my original thought was a Carvel Ice Creamy. However, seeing this picture of the stools I see a diner filled with all people, all ages laughing and full of joy.
