Eclectic Farmhouse-Walker County, Georgia

Tax records indicate this home was built in 1898. I suspect it started out as a plantation plain, and then the addition of the front rooms with the porch was added at some point.

This is what could be seen in the upper room windows.

Chickamauga Prince Hall-Chickamauga, Georgia

Walker County

The Chickamauga Lodge No. 221, Free and Accepted Masons, Prince Hall was built in 1924. The Prince Hall Masons evolved from African Lodge No. 1, an organization founded by abolitionist Prince Hall who was denied access to an all-white fraternal lodge in Boston.

This historic organization was active until the early 2000s. Unfortunately, a storm damaged the building in 2020. There’s a community effort to restore the building. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The Mason symbol in located on the front gable of the building.
