The Auto Drive-In Movie Theater-Greenwood, South Carolina

The Auto Drive-In Movie Theater began as a one-screen movie theater in 1945. While it has not been in constant use, the current owners purchased the theater and reopened it in 2009. Since then, they’ve been able to add more screens and make other renovations.

Tax records indicate the home was built in 1822. I cannot locate additional information on the house at the moment.

Smith Steifle Grocery-Bradley, South Carolina

Bradley, South Carolina, is located on the southwest border of Greenwood County. The unincorporated town’s population is 160. If you’ve ever driven 221 south, you drove right past the Smith Steifle Grocery Store.

Ruben Smith Steifle ran the store for over 50 years. Stifle passed away in 2021, and according to his obituary, he was “a friend to many.” I am uncertain if the store is open.

Troy ARP Church-Troy, South Carolina

South Carolina was the first location of the Associated Reformed Presbyterian (ARP) in the South. The locus of the churches was Abbeville, McCormick, and Greenwood Counties. The Troy ARP Church was founded in 1882.
