H. M. Cutter House-Macon, Georgia

H. M. Cutter was an accomplished builder and cabinet maker. He built this home in 1865. It remained in the family for over a hundred years. It’s currently for sale.

R. A. Bedgood House-Arabi, Georgia

The R. A. Bedgood House was the home to the namesake for Arabi, Georgia (R-A-B). Brian Brown of Vanishing Georgia has documented this house twice (here and here), and it is sad to see the slow demolition by neglect. While these photos were taken in early spring, you can see how overgrown and unmanageable the growth is.

Outside of an impressive house, Bedgood has an incredible marker on his cemetery plot.

I photographed these through the broken windows. The mantels were removed.
With the roof breached, this house will deteriorate quicker.

The Patrick House-Dooling, Georgia

Built in 1903, this is the Pernal Cornelius Patrick family home in Dooling. This was an unexpected find as my friend, and I drove through the community of Dooling.

This photo is from The Kingdom of Dooly by the Vienna Historic Preservation Society.

William Olliff Farm-Adabelle, Georgia

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, William Olliff built the house for his family in 1872. The late Victorian farmhouse with Italianate details is a rare find in rural Georgia. It’s located near Register and Adabelle.

King-Tisdale Cottage-Savannah, Georgia

From the the Museums’s website, “Built in 1896, this Victorian-styled Cottage was home to Sara King and Robert Tisdell, members of Savannah’s vibrant African-American entrepreneurial class. The King-Tisdell Cottage Museum was founded in 1981 by famed Civil Rights Leader, Historian and Preservation advocate, Mr. W.W. Law.”

Folk Victorian-Bleckley County, Georgia

This farmhouse is curious. There are five doors. Was this a house only? Or was it converted to a rural hotel or apartment? My assumption is that all these doors aren’t original.
