Liberty Theater was the center of Black nightlife in Valdosta, Georgia. It used to be a theater and nightclub, but the nightclub was demolished in 2023 after it became too unstable. Built in the 1930s, it is a contributing property to the Southside Historic District.

The Del-Mar Motel opened on September 30, 1956, and was owned by Mr. and Mrs. David Steigman.


Blake Lewis was a noted architect in Valdosta, Georgia. He designed office buildings, churches, and houses throughout South Georgia and North Florida. The House of Nine Gables is a delightful mid-century home he designed and built in 1963.
